Our student motto: "Truth, wisdom, and courage.™"

Book Cover of Buddha Kung Fu Student Manual by Buddha ZhenOur goals at Shaolin Chi Mantis are to provide better balanced people to lead better balanced lives. Our traditional Chinese Gongfu (Kung Fu) Forms are the tools each student uses to master the concepts of life and spirituality. The Classical Chinese weapons are musical instruments that extend the mental and physical awareness of each student. Most of all we learn the joy of hard work and that life is fun for those who master it.

Our books and student manuals help to create this life journey into a quest for knowledge and development. The appetite for learning should never be quenched. Starting with the Shaolin Gongfu Initiate by Buddha Zhen, each student is asked questions they might not have otherwise considered asking.

Even though our primary focus is on Buddhism, each student must become knowledgeable to some extent of all the world's major religions. The books include principles and concepts derived from psychology, the sciences, and the various creative arts. An intermediate student cannot attain their Advanced Level Certificate without first passing cooking tests.

We want all our students to be successful in life.

Written essays are also required of every Shaolin Chi Mantis Belt Rank Level.

Shaolin Gongfu Disciple

Kung Fu is a "way of life" to the Chinese. Not just because of the physical and time requirements of being a martial artist, rather, because of the moral and social expectations of a Kung Fu Master. In China, the Kung Fu Master is a pillar of the community.

This is not easily understood by Americans who hide from their neighbors and don't talk to strangers. "It's none of my business," is the theme of America.

Hopefully, this book, Shaolin Gongfu Disciple, will inspire more people to become active in their communities. Protecting the weak, inspiring the meek, and being role models for youth is expected of each Bodhisattva of Shaolin.

Shaolin Gongfu Shifu

Starting a Kung Fu school or Tai Chi Program is very difficult. Despite the fact that many Karate Black Belts and Yoga Teachers have taken a few months of Tai Chi classes and started selling themselves as Tai Chi Masters, being a Shifu requires a mastery of economics, psychology, and well-planned curriculums.

Buddha Zhen hopes this book will aid his own Disciples in being successful in their launching of Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Gongfu schools around the world.

Zen Spirit Book      chapter 8

Goals are important and useful. However, we are always guessing at this finish line. No matter what that goal may appear to look like now, it will have changed by the time you arrive there. The student will also discover that they have changed also, and the goal may require modifying or rescripting to suit the new you, a creative and productive Buddha.
